The temple dedicated to goddess Bhagavati, an incarnation of Goddess Parvati who is also a consort of Lord Shiva, is an ancient temple located in the center of Pernem taluka at about 28 kms. from the city of Panaji and is said to be more than 500 years old. At the entrance of the Bhagavati temple on either side one can see two life size images of elephants in standing position made of black stone to welcome the visitors.

The goddess Bhagavati, Asthbhuja in a standing position in the temple is also very imposing. A major attraction of the temple is the Dussehra festival that is celebrated with revelry for a fortnight from Ashwin Shuddha Pratipada to Poomima, which is attended by thousands of devotees. The complex has five temples, main temple being of Shri Bhagawati, other temples are of Shri Sateri, Shri Dev Ravalnath, Shri Dev Bhivangi Panchakshari and Brahma.
