Anjuna beach is a small rocky beach with coarse sand and steep cliffs. It is located 8 kms. from Mapusa and 21 kms. from Panaji.The beach was once very scenic, however the sea has eroded the beach away and now only a small stretch of sand is all that remains of the beach. The beach is known for hosting rave parties and a colorful market place selling souvenirs and handicrafts and Goa trance music. In the evenings one can often find locals fishing along the beach shoreline.
Located close to the beach is the famous Anjuna flea market. The flea market comes alive every Wednesday and many tourist throng the place on this day. It is a great place to buy souvenirs, handicrafts, get tattoos, and beach wear. Anjuna is also known as a good fishing spot. In the evenings one can often find locals fishing along the beach shoreline.
